Trypsin is a white to almost white powder obtained from bovine or porcine pancreas. It is a serine protease with substrate specificity. Trypsin cleaves proteins at the C-terminal of lysine and arginine amino acid residues. The proteolytic enzyme powder contains not less than 2500 USP trypsin units/mg. Trypsin of other specifications such as trypsin 1:250 and trypsin 30 FIP units/mg are also available in Jiagen Biotechnologies.
